A Dayhike over the Ten Mile Range, Summer 2000

Back to Vacation Album home page

We skipped this section of the Colorado Trail in 1999, for a
number of very good reasons...really. The dayhike chronicled in the
images below confirmed the wisdom of that decision. The hike was long
(9 hours) and quite demanding near the saddle. A thunderstorm above
timberline was our first brush with the dangers of high elevation
lightening. It was, nonetheless, a beautiful hike!

Indian paintbrush, sighing pines, and happy hikers.

Looking down on Copper Mountain Resort from the saddle. The rain and lightening that caught us half way down are just moving into the town.

Columbine by the trail on the descent to Copper Mountain.
