Neither Phyllis nor I had visted Utah as adults, and it had been 5 years since we saw Niko, so we decided to make a Southwest tour that included California. In three weeks, September 29 - October 26, 2023, we visited Capital Reef NP, Kodachrome SP, Bryce Canyon NP, and Yosemite NP, and visited Phyllis' son and cousin. The weather was perfect, the parks crowded but manageable, the fall colors brilliant, and the scenery incredible! We hiked, but mostly in state parks to avoid the crowds, and biked in two of the National Parks.
The highlight of the trip was spending lots of high-quality time with Niko in California's beautiful Stanislaus National Forest. We are already dreaming about returning to the Southwest and visiting more amazing landscapes!
